I must admit that the tables all over campus in support of Proposition 8 drive me nuts. For those of you that don't know, Proposition 8 is proposition for a constitutional amendment in California that would eliminate the right of same-sex couples to marry. It would provide that only a marriage between a man and a woman would be valid or recognized in California. Not that I am a resident of California, and thus cannot vote on the above stated issue, I cannot understand how anyone in good conscience could willingly support and vote for something that would take away someone's civil rights. The Vote No on Prop 8 website says this: It’s not the government’s place to tell couples who have been together for years whether or not they are allowed to marry. In California, we let people decide what is best for themselves – without government interference.
