It's been a while

Yeah, I know, I haven't updated in a really long time. So...what's new in the world of Lauren? Well, I went to California for the first time, for Thanksgiving. That was quite the adventure. I made it all the way through Utah, across a 16 mile spread of Arizona, down through Vegas, a little ways into California the rear wheel on the driver side of my car blows. My car started shaking, and I pulled off the road immediately, and my tire was shredded. It was insane. I've never seen a tire like that. (I should have taken a picture or it, but I was too shaken up.) Luckily I have 24 hour road side service, and they came and changed my tire. I'm then driving on the spare, and not long after that, the other back tire starts to go. I'm like 30 miles from Kat's place, so I just got towed there. That was an adventure in and of itself. The tow truck driver was kind of an idiot. He even gave me that map to navigate. Crazy man. I finally got to Kat's house, and we just hun

Yeah, I kind of love this video.

Stop the Hate, No on Prop 8!

I must admit that the tables all over campus in support of Proposition 8 drive me nuts. For those of you that don't know, Proposition 8 is proposition for a constitutional amendment in California that would eliminate the right of same-sex couples to marry. It would provide that only a marriage between a man and a woman would be valid or recognized in California. Not that I am a resident of California, and thus cannot vote on the above stated issue, I cannot understand how anyone in good conscience could willingly support and vote for something that would take away someone's civil rights. The Vote No on Prop 8 website says this: It’s not the government’s place to tell couples who have been together for years whether or not they are allowed to marry. In California, we let people decide what is best for themselves – without government interference. Eliminating fundamental rights for same-sex couples treats them differently under the law – AND THAT’S WRONG. Vote No on 8. Domestic

From BYU "The Daily Universe"

Student Activities Board holds first 'BYU Idol' By Amanda Wallace - 15 Sep 2008 The Student Activities Board production had its first show Wednesday night. Stephanie Lewis took first place, Alex Pizza came in second and Lauren Neaves took third, earning the judge's choice. Pizza, an advertising major from North Wildwood, N.J., was pleased with her performance of "I Will Always Love You" by Whitney Houston. "The stage is my favorite thing in the world, so I really felt at home," Pizza said. The judges were also impressed with Pizza's delivery. "After that performance, we all will always love you," said Tyson Harmon, a BYU Idol judge and a cappella singer. The night started with a performance from media arts major Tristyn Tanner. Cary Carr, a math major, followed Tanner's act with an entertaining routine to "We Like to Party" by the Venga Boys. Carr had the crowd dancing and singing as he jumped and discoed about the stage. &qu

BYU Idol

Who's going to the BYU Idol finale? Oh wait, that would be me! I'm super stoked. :)

School

And I have returned to school. It's the second week of classes, and I must admit that I'm a little afraid. My classes seem somewhat intense, though hopefully not too bad. I think I'm nervous because I haven't received all of my textbooks too. One of my teachers drives me nuts. It's my philosophy of religion teacher. Well, our co-teacher. The assigned teacher is team teaching, and the guy he's team teaching with is a pompous prick. He wrote the textbooks we're using, and his day job is being a lawyer, and he's told us many times that he's "generously giving us his time" because he's not getting paid to teach us, he's merely gracing us with his presence. Does he know what the word "gracious" means? Because if he really was graciously giving me his time, he wouldn't need to tell me that he's graciously giving me his time. And he name drops like crazy. "Well, when I was having lunch with Elder Bednar the other day

I think one of the reasons I may have decided to create a blog is just so I can share my taste in music via the music player with people. Kind of pathetic, right?

I caved

I caved and I now have my own blog. I'm ashamed, and there might not be anything blogworthy, but here it is anyway.
