It's been a while

Yeah, I know, I haven't updated in a really long time.

So...what's new in the world of Lauren? Well, I went to California for the first time, for Thanksgiving. That was quite the adventure. I made it all the way through Utah, across a 16 mile spread of Arizona, down through Vegas, a little ways into California the rear wheel on the driver side of my car blows. My car started shaking, and I pulled off the road immediately, and my tire was shredded. It was insane. I've never seen a tire like that. (I should have taken a picture or it, but I was too shaken up.) Luckily I have 24 hour road side service, and they came and changed my tire. I'm then driving on the spare, and not long after that, the other back tire starts to go. I'm like 30 miles from Kat's place, so I just got towed there. That was an adventure in and of itself. The tow truck driver was kind of an idiot. He even gave me that map to navigate. Crazy man. I finally got to Kat's house, and we just hung out that night, eating rice a roni and watching a lot of Pushing Daisies.

The next day was Thanksgiving. Kat, Chris and I headed over to Chris' parents house, and went with them to the Coronado Naval Base, where we had Thanksgiving. It was so good. The food was great. It's the same place where they filmed the graduation scene of Top Gun. I've been there now. After the meal Chris' dad drove us around the base and we got to see the new nuclear aircraft carrier, the USS Regan, and that was cool. We all went to the Hotel Del Coronado, where the film Some Like it Hot was filmed and walked around there for a while. That's a cool place. After the long day Chris, Kat and I went back to their place and we watched some more Pushing Daisies. What can I say? I'm getting obsessed.

The next day Kat and I hung out a lot. We went and saw the movie Rachel Getting Married at the Gaslight Theater, which is a nice place. I knew the movie was going to be sad, but I didn't know it was going to be that sad. I really liked it, but it's really sad. Kat took me to her knitting store after that. She's starting to break me down into knitting. Especially when she shows me crazy things like this. Yes, it's kind of disturbing, but I would totally knit crazy stuff like that. And the woman who works there is really cool. I can see why Kat likes that store. It's got cool stuff, not just knitting stuff. We wandered around a giant Borders, and Kat bought me the book Lame: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pall, which I'm totally excited to read. (I've started it, and it's so funny. Christ and Biff play games like Kick the Canaanite, and Stone the Adulteress. So entertaining.) We went to the beach. We went to H&M. I found a vest that I want Kat to get me for Christmas. It was pretty exciting. Then we rented Wall-E, and went back to her place and watched that.

All in all I had a great time. It was fun being with Kat, like it always is, and seeing her new city. And I'm glad we got to spend the holiday together. She is part of my family, so that was nice.

Driving back was uneventful, just long. I don't think I've ever been so excited to get back to Provo, just so I could get out of my car after a ten hour drive.

So, that's pretty much it.

I'm glad that you had fun with Kat. :)
Pushing Daisies is amazing!!! I'm so sad that it's probably going to get cancelled (I don't think it's been officially announced yet). Maybe some other network will pick it up... I totally don't get the driving 10 hours by yourself thing. I would go crazy or fall asleep or both. I don't like driving. And you should totally give in and start knitting. It's awesome.
